In Loving Memory of Emigdio "Emilio" Caban-Torres
July 31, 1950 - August 8, 2025
Emigdio Caban-Torres, affectionately known as Emilio, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at the age of 75.
He was born on July 31, 1950, in Lares, Puerto Rico, to Felipe and Cecilia Caban-Torres. Emilio was the third of seven children. From a young age, he worked alongside his parents on the family farm - an experience that instilled in him a lifelong dedication to hard work, humility, and family.
At the age of 18, Emilio moved to Newark, New Jersey, where he met the love of his life, Ana Gomez. The couple married in December 1971 and together raised two children, building a life rooted in faith, love, and perseverance.
In 1973, Emilio began a career with The Westin Governor Morris and soon moved his family to Dover, NJ, where he worked faithfully for 44 years until his retirement. His work ethic and reliability were known and respected by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Outside of work, Emilio found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He especially enjoyed summers at the beach and lakes, surrounded by family and friends. A passionate movie collector, he never got tired of A passionate movie collector, he never got tired of rewatching his favorite films, often sharing them with his grandchildren.
In his later years, Emilio moved to Jacksonville, Florida, after facing health challenges, continuing to live surrounded by love and the warmth of family.
Emilio was the embodiment of generosity, compassion, and resilience. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he never hesitated to lend a helping hand and always put others before himself.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Cecilia, and two brothers, Anthony and Jose.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Ana; his children Junior (Ivette) and Damaris; grandchildren Joel, Kayla, Jessica, Sherina, Jayda, Jasmine, Jacob, David, Rachel, Ruth, and Danny; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind his siblings Fermin, Rafael (Eva), Carmen (Papo), and Iris, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish his memory forever.
Emilio's life was a testament to the enduring power of family, hard work, and unconditional love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
