Emily Lou Ayoub, 94, of Peoria, IL passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

She was born in Summum, IL on August 22, 1930, to Floyd and Mabel (Peek) Parr. She married John T. Ayoub in Peoria on January 31, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Also preceding her in death were her brothers: Stanley and Ronnie Parr, and her sisters: Norma Bowen, Betty Coats, Sue Parr, Linda Tatro, Sandra Stonecipher, and Juanita Edwards.

Surviving are her children: David (Jennifer) Ayoub and Debra (David) Giebelhausen; grandchildren: Oliver, Claire, and Oscar Ayoub; and siblings: Thelma (Frank) Taylor, Dale (Cheryl) Parr, and Connie Parr.

After graduating from Astoria High School in 1948, Emily moved to Peoria where she married, raised her children, and worked in telecommunications at Caterpillar. She had been a member at Grace Presbyterian Church since 1948.

Emily retired from Caterpillar in 1991 but continued to enjoy numerous hobbies: jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, quilting, and St. Louis Cardinal baseball. Emily also volunteered in the church kitchen, all three Peoria Hospitals, the Peoria Public Library, and several other nonprofit organizations.

While living at Lutheran Hillside Village, she enjoyed playing Bingo and frequent visits from her children and grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Lutheran Hillside Village and the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home for their compassionate care throughout her stay.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Presbyterian in Peoria, IL.

Memorials may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church or EverTrue Lutheran Hillside Village.
