Emily Metoyer Christophe, affectionately known as Mae Lee and Grandmommy, Peacefully entered eternal rest on May 11, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family in Cane River. Louisiana. Born on January 6. 1936 in Natchitoches. Louisiana. to the late Marell and Mae Matilda Metoyer, Emily's life was a testament to faith, love, and service.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Emily's infectious laughter could light up any room. Her deep Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life; she attended Mass daily, prayed the rosary with devotion and found joy in participating in church retreats and activities.
As a military spouse, Emily journeyed across the globe alongside her husband, Sgt. Joseph Christophe, embracing the challenges and adventures of military life for 20 years. Upon returning to Cane River after his retirement, she continued her dedication to service by working as a dietitian for the Diocese of Alexandria.
Emily's passions included singing, dancing, cooking, and baking. Each morning she found peace in watching the river's gentle flow, the birds in flight, and boats passing by, a reflection of her appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Her greatest pride was her family. Emily's unwavering love and daily prayers were a constant source of strength and comfort to her children and grandchildren.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents: her husband. Sgt. Joseph Christophe; brothers, David Metoyer, Donald Metoyer and James Metoyer; daughter, Zelda Christophe; and grandson. Justin Myles Christophe.
She leaves behind her children: Michael Christophe (Brenda), Mae Christophe-Harris (Charles) and Joseph Anthony Christophe (Gina); brothers, Bernard and John L. Metoyer: grandchildren: Joseph, Alicia, Andrew, Ashley, Elizabeth, Ryan, Kristina, Erica, Bertrand, Brandon, Benjamin, and Cortney; and several great grandchildren.
We will mourn the loss of a remarkable woman, we celebrate the countless memories and the enduring legacy she leaves behind. Emily's spirit of compassion, faith, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Emily Metoyer Christophe will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 9 am until 10:30 am at St. Anthony. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:30 am. She will be laid to rest on Monday, May 19, 2025 at 12:00 noon at the Alexandria National Cemetery in Pineville, LA. A procession will leave from Blanchard-St. Denis on the 19th at 10:30 am.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Charles Harris, David Metoyer, Jr., Bertrand Christophe, Jr., Ryan Christophe, Brandon Christophe, and Benjamin Christophe. Honorary pallbearers will be Bernard Metoyer, John L. Metoyer, Patrick Harris, Joseph Collins, Andrew Collins, and Floyd Thomas.
