Emily Christopher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rocky Face Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Homes on Dec. 24, 2025.
On Friday, December 19, 2025, Emily Tate Christopher went to be with her Lord and Savior.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Eugene and Virginia Beamer Tate; her loving husband, Henry Bardin Christopher; sister, Nancy Jane Blanton and grandson; Mathew Christopher.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie Christopher Marshall and Kelly Marshall; son, Todd Christopher; her grandchildren, Lauren Marshall (Suzanne), Carter Marshall, Mackenzie Grace Roland (Colton), Nathaniel Christopher (Destin), and Tiffany Burns (Jon); six precious great grandchildren and very special family members, Lisa and Matt Higdon, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Emily was born in Forest City, North Carolina on May 2, 1938, and attended Cool Springs High School in Forest City, and then began her pursuit towards a surgical degree at the Medical College of Virginia. Emily was a social butterfly and loved ballroom dancing, water skiing, and weekends boating on the lake. She met her husband, Henry, on a blind date while working in Charlotte, North Carolina and the stars aligned. She moved to Dalton with Henry and celebrated 53 wonderful years together, raising their two children, multiple fur babies, and creating and running both a domestic carpet and rug company (Oxford House) as well as an import/export business (Oxford Textile Mills) where they were able to enjoy many trips abroad.
She was an active member of Christ Church Presbyterian, a volunteer at Hamilton Medical Center, and a member of the Dalton Garden Club and local Women's club. Emily was an avid bridge player throughout her life and a member of several local bridge clubs. While she enjoyed the game immensely, she always felt the most important part of those gatherings were the precious friendships she gained along the way. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Christ Church Presbyterian followed by a private family commitment ceremony in the Memorial Garden.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Emily's honor be made to Christ Church Presbyterian 510 S. Tibbs Road Dalton, Georgia 30720.
Her family would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers.
Messages of comfort may be sent to the family at www.julianpeeples.com.
