Emily "Joanne" Knight, age 86, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025. She was born on April 21, 1939, at home in Alabama, the daughter of the late Lonnie Andy Kitchens and Celia Ann (Lindsey) Kitchens. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two children, Donna Goodine and Tyrone Knight; and siblings, Earl Kitchens, Jack Kitchens, Clarence Kitchens, Ulas Kitchens, Ellis Kitchens, Edith Skinner, and Lois Walsh.
Joanne leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, devotion, and family. A homemaker at its finest, she poured her heart into raising seven children and was richly blessed to see her family grow into a legacy of 58 grandchildren. A true testament to the life, love, and strength she built through generations.
She leaves behind her children, Theresa (Patrick) Long, Pamala Tyler, James Brock, David Brock Sr., and Tonya (Darrell) Lee; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard Kitchens; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A service to honor Joanne's life will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 noon until service start time at the funeral home. Rev. Howard Kitchens and Darrell Lee will officiate the services. Interment will take place following the service at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough, Georgia. Serving as pallbearers are Colten Lee, Jonathan Lee, Caleb Lee, Preston Lee, David Brock Jr., and Shannon McKenzie.
