Robert Eugene Peterson

Robert Eugene Peterson, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on August 26, 1940, in Rhine, Georgia, and passed away on October 25, 2025, in Stockbridge, Georgia. He lived a life defined by love, integrity, and hard work. The youngest of ten children, Robert was married to his devoted wife, Angeline Brown Peterson, for 62 wonderful years. Together they built a family rooted in faith, loyalty, and laughter.
Robert attended Fulton High School in Atlanta, Georgia, and went on to build a long and accomplished career with General Motors. After 28 years of dedicated service, he retired in 1991. Following his retirement, his "second act" was one of selflessness - caring for his beloved grandchildren as their parents returned to work.
An avid outdoorsman, Robert enjoyed fishing, gardening, and bowling with his coworkers in the General Motors work league, where his humor and camaraderie made him a cherished teammate. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, and he especially loved spending time near the water in the Florida Panhandle.
Known for his strong work ethic and unwavering honesty, Robert was a man of his word - dependable, punctual, and respected by everyone who knew him. He was innovative, resourceful, and could repair just about anything.
Robert was a man of faith, whose values shaped the way he lived, worked, and cared for those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas E. Peterson and Annie Bell Walker Peterson, and all nine of his siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Angeline Brown Peterson; his son, Robert Todd Peterson; and his daughter, Patti (Brad) Anderson. He was a proud grandfather to Bailey Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Sydney (Michael) Weeks, and Kendall Peterson, and an adoring great-grandfather to one precious great-granddaughter, Collins Reese Anderson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved and admired him deeply.
Robert will be remembered most for his love of family, his steady presence, and his kind and humble spirit. His life was a testament to faith, hard work, and quiet strength - a true gentleman whose legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
A service to honor Mr. Peterson's life will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2025. The visitation will begin at noon, with the service to follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Pastor Jimmy Wilson and Pastor Stan Berrong will officiate the service. Entombment will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough, Georgia.
