Mrs. Emma Ward Abrams, 85, wife of the late Joseph C. Abrams and a lifelong resident of the Eastern Shore, passed away June 8, 2009 at the Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, SC. Mrs. Abrams and her husband were married on December 19, 1941. She retired from the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company in 1987. Emma was a longtime member of the Onancock Baptist Church.Other than her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, William Southey Ward and Josie Anna Ward; and a brother, William Southey Ward, Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Jo Anna Leatherwood of Belle Haven, VA; a son, Keith Abrams and his wife Linda of Gilbert, SC; granddaughters, Deanna Fields of Madisonville, TN, Vikki Leatherwood of Fairhope, AL, Stephanie Gaskins of Pensacola, FL, Jacqui Abrams of Lexington, SC, Kristin Rizzo of Aberdeen, NC, and Tara Raymo of Houston, TX; grandsons, Sean Abrams of Gilbert, SC and Dominic Pagano of Lexington, SC; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her sister, Kelso Miller of Joppa, MD.She is my Mom and will always be, thank you Lord for her gift to me. Painful in our parting, but joyous in our reunion. This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Joe McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.Memory tributes may be sent to the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com.Arrangements by the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home.
