Emma Lee Blassingame, affectionately called "Tilly", was born on November 14, 1942 in Fort Valley, GA to Clyde West and Cora Lee Jefferson. She died on August 21, 2025 at her home in Trenton, NJ. She was raised by Mary Lou Jefferson and attended HA Hunt High School in Fort Valley, GA.
Emma worked for North Princeton Developmental Center in Skillman, NJ before transitioning to become a full-time grandmother. She was loved by so many that 82 years simply was not enough to spread the love that she had to give! Emma possessed an open heart and giving spirit and, with that sentiment, she opened her home to anyone that she knew. She will truly be missed by her family who will remember her laughter and jokes and cherish the heartfelt conversations that she held with them during her time here on earth.
She leaves behind her four children, Tony West of Philadelphia, PA, Phyllis Blassingame of Trenton, NJ, Jerome Blassingame of NY, and Stacy Blassingame of Hollywood, FL; one surviving sibling, Pamela Mathis of FL; 16 grandchildren of FL, NY, and NJ; 14 great grandchildren; two nieces, Shay Carey and Rondayln Montgomery both of Georgia; three cousins, Rumay, Charmaine, and Merlene; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Emma was truly loved and leaves behind a legacy of devotion, loyalty to family, and love for her family to carry on.
