Merzelin Mullings Obituary

Merzelin Rowe Mullings, affectionately called "Sis. Merz", "Ms. Merze", "Ms. Rose", or "Mama", was born on September 11, 1949, in Lime Tree, Trelawny, Jamaica, to Anieta Fine-Mullings and Orthnell Rowe. She received her heavenly passport on September 29, 2025.
Merzelin was educated in the public school system in Trelawny, Jamaica. There, she experimented with agriculture as a career. This sparked her passion for farming and she focused her efforts on learning about a host of crops and animal rearing. Up to the time of her death, she cherished her pets, namely Peggie (her poodle dog) and Richie (her cat). During her earlier years, she chose to be a homemaker and devoted her time to raising her children. She extended herself to be the best wife and mother. When her children became adults, she migrated to the United States of America and secured jobs in the health care industry. Her work highlighted her secondary passion - caring for the sick and the aging population.
She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she dedicated her time to providing optimum care, going above and beyond to support her family. This included preparing the grandchildren for school, cooking their meals, and assisting with homework. She had a special love for Nevaeh, a daughter whom she inherited from babysitting. Her children and grandchildren were often jealous, due to the overwhelming affection she showed this honorary daughter - making all the special meals, going on shopping sprees, and spoiling her were a part of their daily routine.
Merzelin had a special love for Christ, which she shared with everyone that she met. She would always say, "All you have to do is trust God." She was admired for her love of Jamaican Gospel Medley and she is remembered for dancing to religious music whenever she got the chance.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and son. Merzelin leaves to mourn and forever cherish precious memories, one son and two daughters; many honorary daughters and sons; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, two nieces, one nephew, and a host of other relatives and friends.
