Lucie Tonge, a woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and generous spirit, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born on April 9, 1935, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Lucie was the daughter of Simon Tonge, originally from Antigua, and Lilian Rey, a native of Haiti. She was raised with strong values rooted in culture, family, and faith.
In September 1958, Lucie immigrated to the United States in search of greater opportunities, settling in New York City. There, she built a meaningful life defined by service and spiritual devotion.
She married Louis Morel in 1965. Though the marriage ended in 1971, Lucie continued forward with grace and independence. She had no children or siblings, but shared a close bond with her beloved nephew, who survives her.
Lucie dedicated her career to caring for others, working as a nursing assistant for various home care agencies throughout New York. She brought comfort, patience, and dignity to the many lives she touched in her work.
A devout Christian, Lucie was a faithful member of her church and never missed a Sunday service. Her quiet presence was a constant blessing to her congregation. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching The Steve Harvey Show, which brought her joy and laughter.
Lucie was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Lilian. She is survived by her nephew, along with dear friends, neighbors, and members of her church community who will remember her for her kindness, faith, and unwavering dedication to others.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
