Emma Jane "Janie" Buckridge
1930-2025
Stanberry, MO: Emma Jane "Janie" Buckridge, 95, Stanberry, MO passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at a Stanberry, MO nursing home.
She was born on January 4, 1930, to Warren and Ola May (Howard) Talmadge. She was the last of six children: three brothers, Howard (Margeretha), Wilson (Ruby), Max (Deloris) and sisters, Marguerite (Robert), and Evelyn (Henry).
Janie was born in the north part of Stanberry. When she was three, they moved to a farm southwest of Darlington. She attended the East Sager School for five years, one year at West Sager School and after they moved to a place on the highway, she attended school at Stanberry for the remainder of her high school years where she graduated in 1948. She also played clarinet in the school band.
She worked at Values Dry Good Store and J.C. Penney until it closed in 1959. Janie was baptized in 1947. She married Robert Lee Buckridge on December 18, 1954 at the Baptist Church and they lived at 508 E. 5th St., Stanberry almost all their married life. She took care of Bob after he had a stroke in 2007 for ten years and then took him to a nursing home in 2017.
Janie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanberry where she taught Sunday school (grades one through three) for forty years, was the church clerk for 28 years, a church funeral coordinator for 46 years and was active in all activities in the church. She also collected Shawne Corn Dishes, salt and pepper shakers, angels, and kerosine lamps along with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings.
Janie is survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, Stanberry, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. Burial will follow in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, MO. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to Missouri Children's Home in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 153, Stanberry, MO 64489. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com.
