Mrs. Emma Lenora Johnson, 80, of Swainsboro passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Select Specialty Hospital in Savannah, GA. She was born in Mt. Vernon on April 21, 1945, to the late Larkie Love and Annie Mae Hudson Love. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lynn Coleman; stepdaughter, Cindy Johnson; sister, Louise Little.
Mrs. Emma worked at Swainsboro Sportswear, later Ithaca, until her retirement. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and bird watching. She will be remembered for her caring spirit and love, anyway that she could help someone she would do it, just a cup of coffee or even a warm meal, no matter what she was always there. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning, and she made sure her freezer was always full. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by her husband, Adolphus “Doc” Johnson of Swainsboro; sons, David Wheeler of Swainsboro, Carl Wheeler (Sandy) of Dellwood; stepdaughters, Kim Schrader (David) of Swainsboro, Shannon Dale Johnson of Ridgeway, IL; stepson, Shaine Johnson (Jerica) of Byron; sisters, Betty Edenfield, Linda Coleman (Roy Morris), Rebecca Hopkins (Ricky), Martha Robinson; brother, John Love; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Morris Brantley officiating.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to services.
Interment will be in Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Carl Wheeler, Todd Hooks, Wayne Coleman, Jonathan Riner, Gauge Coleman and William (Lil Bill) Coleman.
