Obituary published on Legacy.com by Olpin Family Mortuary on Aug. 12, 2025.
Emma Jean Largo passed peacefully from this life August 5, 2025. Her loving husband, daughters, siblings, nieces and nephews were by her side. It was a fortunate St. Patrick's Day the day she was born, March 17, 1963. Her parents Violet Morris, and Alex Tso Sr. were living in Winslow, Arizona with Emma's older sisters Vivian and Virginia. Later, three more children Carol, Alex Jr. and Mathew joined their family. When Emma was eight years old, she joined the family of Eldon and Colleen Davis through the Indian Placement Program during the school year. She loved living with them and their five children and going to school in Pleasant Grove. Later she lived with Garth and Ruby Fielding to finish her secondary education. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1982. In 1983, she met and fell in love with Casey Largo after meeting him at Lagoon. They had a Navajo traditional marriage ceremony in Grand Falls, Arizona on June 25 the same year. They were blessed with their first daughter, Emily, a year later, and their second daughter, Cassie, came on Emma's birthday two and a half years later. During this time, she also graduated with an associate's degree in early childhood education from Utah Valley Community College. She was also on the Dean's List. The family was sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple in 1993. They lived in Evanston, Wyoming for 14 years while Casey worked on the Union Pacific Railroad. Emma worked for quite a few years as a substitute teacher and teacher's aide. The schools asked her to make fry bread and teach presentations about her Navajo culture. She always had the desire to move to Pleasant Grove, and finally in 2011 she and Casey bought a home there. In the early 2000's Emma started having ongoing medical issues that required her to be in and out of the hospital and have multiple surgeries. There were several times that the family almost lost her, but she pulled through until this last surgery. She finally was released from all her suffering and is in a state of rest. Her greatest joy was when her granddaughter, Madeleine Jean (MJ) was born last year. Emma's soothing presence helped lull her effortlessly to sleep as a newborn. Then as MJ grew, she loved watching Bebe Finn with her Másání. Emma would talk to MJ in Navajo and buy her fun shoes, beautiful clothes, and other special gifts. Survivors include her husband, Casey Largo and two daughters, Emily Kennedy and Cassie Largo, her son-in-law, Riley Kennedy and granddaughter, Madeleine Jean (MJ) Kennedy. In addition, Emma's five siblings, Vivan, Virginia, Carol, Alex Jr., and Mathew survive her. A viewing will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 942 N 500 E,
Pleasant Grove, Utah at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 9, 2025. The funeral will be held in the chapel and will start at 12:00 pm the same day. She will be interred at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery after the funeral ceremony. At 2:00 pm a luncheon will be provided by Emma's sisters and the Grove Creek 7th ward Relief Society.
