Emma June Whitaker Dotson

Emma June Whitaker Dotson, age 93, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Redbanks Nursing Home.
Emma was a nurse at Henderson Community Methodist Hospital for almost two decades. She loved caring for all but specialized in pediatrics. In her younger years, Emma was a longtime member of Hortons Chapel Church of Christ in Belton, KY. After moving to Henderson, Emma attended Henderson Church of Christ. She was a lover of UK Basketball, her garden, and her pets. Emma's family was the most important thing to her.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents Edgar and Oma Day Wells; Husbands Frank Whitaker and Howard Dotson; siblings: Margaret Gossett, JoNell Joines, J.L. Wells, and Marvin Wells; granddaughter Tracy Tyler, and great-grandson Aidan Groves.
Emma is survived by her daughters: Colistia Tyler, Annette Hudgions ( John, Sr.), Barbara Kirkwood (Gary) all of Henderson, KY and Judy Wise of Decatur, IL; sons: Daniel Whitaker of Oklahoma City, OK, Michael Whitaker (Gaye) Madisonville, KY, Joe Whitaker of Henderson, KY, and Jack Whitaker of Louisville, KY; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Emma's Life Celebration from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the funeral home with Brother Tim Shockley officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
Pallbearers will be John David Hudgions, Jr., Trevor Williams, DeLacy Groves, John Charles Croft, Ian Whitaker, and Travis Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hudgions, Sr. and Gary Kirkwood.
