Emma Caroline Wolf (Tolles) of Spring Arbor, Michigan, age 91, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025.
Emma was born on December 8, 1933, in Clio, Michigan, to her late parents Carl and Dorothy (Secord) Tolles.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Viola Kilbourn and Irene Peterson. As a teenager her family moved to Gaylord, Michigan. Emma graduated from Gaylord High School and attended Northwestern Community College in Petoskey, Michigan. She married her husband, Joseph November 27, 1954. They had five children, Deborah (Jeffrey) VanSchoick, Joseph (Barbara) Wolf, Sally (John) Palmer, Timothy (Jama) Wolf, and Nancy (William) Pirlot. They had nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Emma was a member of the Gaylord United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Bradenton, Florida, Parrish United Methodist Church in Parrish, Florida, and most recently Hillside United Methodist Church in Horton, Michigan.
She had various employments including secretary to the Assistant Principal at Gaylord High School and office staff at Bill Graham Ford in Bradenton, Florida.
Emma was a member of Gaylord Rainbow Girls Assembly, Mother Advisor and awarded the Grand Cross of Colors. She joined the Chrysanthemum Chapter #114 Order of the Eastern Star, as a member, she served as the Worthy Matron, Past President of Wolverine District Association, Grand Page, and Grand Representative of Louisiana in Michigan. Emma transferred to Bradenton Chapter #87 upon moving to Florida. She served as Worthy Matron several times, Grand Instructor, Grand Page, and as the Grand Representative of Michigan in Florida. Emma found great joy in her Eastern Star memberships and made many friends within this organization.
Emma's hobbies and interests included camping, card playing, crocheting, cake decoration, flower arranging, teaching basket weaving, and reading.
After 36 years in Florida, Emma and her husband Joe returned to Spring Arbor, Michigan to be closer to family. Emma discovered a renewed fondness for cats and adopted several. Her special cat "Blackie" watched over her and was by her side at the end of her life. Following her wishes cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at the Hampton Funeral Home (221 W. Main Street, Hanover) on Sunday, September 14, 2025, beginning at 4:00 PM. with Pastor Larry Rubingh officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
