Emma Zani Obituary
Emma Mae Zani, 91, of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away December 20, 2023, at Wheeling Hospital. She was born to the late Mathew Sr. and Kathryn Bennett, May 9, 1932, in Martins Ferry, Ohio. Emma is survived by five children: Donald Jr. and Charlotte Goddard of Oceanside, California; Robert Sr. and Lucinda Goddard of Wheeling; Rebecca Goddard of Columbus, Ohio; Pamela and Gary Hinchey of Visalia, California; and stepdaughter Terry Goddard of Brilliant, Ohio. She is also survived by two brothers: George Bennett of Springfield, Ohio, and Thomas Bennett of Jamestown, Ohio, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Emma was predeceased by two husbands, Donald Goddard Sr. in 1988 and Robert Zani in 2014, and infant daughter Debbie Goddard in 1952.
She was a store clerk for a time and a dedicated homemaker for much longer. At age 70, she earned a computer certificate from West Virginia Northern Community College. Before her health declined, Emma enjoyed visiting Wheeling Downs. She consistently attended the First Christian Church of Martins Ferry, and more recently online.
Viewing will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Heslop Chapel, Wilson Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, Oh 43035, from 10 am till time of service at 12 noon with Pastor David Hall officiating.
