Ennis Simon, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on August 19, 1941, in St. Martinville, Louisiana.
A true Jack of all trades, Ennis had a very diverse career. He lent his skills to roofing, farming, construction, the oilfield, and road paving, embracing every challenge with unwavering determination. After retiring, Ennis found joy in collecting commodities, finding value in things others overlooked. This side venture not only brought him a bit of pocket money but also reflected his resourceful spirit.
At the heart of Ennis’s life was his family. Much like his beloved mother, he took great pride in preserving the family traditions passed down through generations. His grandchildren were the apples of his eye, and it was evident how deeply he adored them.
Ennis found solace in the great outdoors. In his earlier years, he tended to a vegetable garden that flourished under his care, each plant a representation of his nurturing spirit. There was a certain therapy in cutting grass, where the hum of the mower seemed to echo his contentment. These moments brought him peace and connection to both nature and his own roots.
Ennis had simple pleasures that lit up his life. He had a keen interest in watching boxing, where each match sparked joy and excitement. The indulgence of sweet treats was another of his delights, and sharing these little joys with those he loved created countless memories that will forever linger in the hearts of his family.
Mr. Simon leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Brenda Simon; children, Pauline Simon, Kendell Augustine Alexander (Milton), Ennis Simon, Jr. (Christine), and Germaine Simon (Ilyssa Parker); siblings, Doris Jackson (Emmerson), Cora Marshall (Willie), Junius Simon, Jr. (Stella), Carrie Simon Chassion (C.J.), Mary Alter Wiltz (Cecil), Rose Chevalier (Raymond), and Georgia Simon; grandchildren, Brittany Simon, Brandon Simon, Jamil Augustine, Sr. (Brianka), Devon Simon, and Pehya Simon; and great-grandchildren, Tayla French, Rylee Simon, Jamil Augustine, Jr., Kholyn Simon, Jewels Augustine, Jada Augustine, and Kennedy Lewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Junius Horrace Simon, Sr. and Corrine Hamilton Simon; and siblings, Florita Charles (Lawrence), Loretta Carmon, Lucy Marshall (Irving), and Russell Simon.
Pallbearers will be Jamil Augustine, Sr., Victor Trahan, Renard Simon, Casey Wiltz, Curtis Charles, and Nathaniel Simon.
Honorary pallbearers are Germaine Simon, Milton Alexander, Jr. Ennis Simon, Jr., Junius Simon, Jr., Raymond Chevalier, Jr., Duane Jackson, Sr., and Kenneth Charles.
Ennis’ legacy of love, hard work, and the unbreakable bonds of family will resonate for generations to come. May he rest in peace.
