Enrique Vela Obituary

Enrique was born to Santiago Q. and Francisca (Olivarez) Vela on February 14, 1963 in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1982 and went on to Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. He married Maria Rosalia Guzman on August 17, 2018. He worked as a general laborer. He served in the United States Army. He was a 49ers, Dodgers, and I.U. fan. He loved to grill, fish, garden, watch politics, and spend time with his family. He was a caring and giving man who will be missed by all the people in his life.
Enrique is survived by his wife, Maria Vela of Nappanee, IN; his daughters: Linda (Raul) Quintanilla of Highland, IN; Virginia (Christopher) Moore of Fishers, IN; Andrea Vela of Highland, IN; Emily (Israel) Robledo of Highland, IN; his stepdaughters: Esther (Jesus) Vargas of South Bend, IN; Christina Grear of Nappanee, IN; his stepsons: Joseph (Jessica) Tener Camarillo of Bremen, IN; Victor Perez (Mechele McCullough) of Nappanee, IN; Samuel Perez of Nappanee, IN; Esteban Perez of Nappanee, IN; his sisters: Alicia (Tonya) Vela of Plymouth, IN; Josie (Elias) Gonzalez of Mishawaka, IN; his brothers: Santiago (Bonnie) Vela, Jr. of Florida; Ruben (Diana) Vela of Syracuse, IN; Lionel (Roxanne) Vela of Inwood, IN; and his 21 grandchildren.
Enrique was preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Francisca Vela; and his dog, Laddie.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Deaton Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563).
A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Father Fernado Jimenez officiating.
The burial will take place in New Oak Hill Cemetery (Plymouth, IN).
Memorial donations may be made to a charity helping the victims of Hurricane Helene.
