Enriquito Guzman Obituary
He pursued an illustrious academic journey, attending the University of the Philippines Los Banos, followed by further studies at Cornell University for his Masters Degree and Syracuse University for his PhD.
After his studies, he returned to the University of the Philippines, Los Banos. There, he taught for 35 years as a professor of Forest Pathology. His students and peers admired him for his passionate commitment to research development in forestry throughout Southeast Asia and the Pacific region. He also served as a consultant to many projects regarding biological and pathological tree diseases. With his research, he was able to author multiple books and publications about forest pests and diseases. His legacy thrives at the University of the Philippines through the Makliling Botanical Gardens, which he helped develop.
Enriquito is survived by his wife (Ligaya); children (Joy and Boyette, John and Alma, Jack and Pam); grandchildren (Sydney, Kirsten, Danielle, Lindsay, Riley, Brianna, and Madeleine); and sisters (Lulu, Emelina, and Nimfa). He was preceded in death by his parents, (Luis and Maria Nita), and his brother, (Jose).
Services to honor Enriquito's life will be held at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S Cass Ave, Darien, IL, on September 19, 2024, from 3 pm to 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will follow on September 20, 2024, at St. Scholastica Catholic Church, 7800 Janes Ave, Woodridge, IL, starting at 10:30 am. Interment private.
Enriquito's life was a testament to his love for his family, his intellectual contributions, and his passions. He will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
