Eric Charles Anderson was born on May 15, 1964, and was called home to be with the Lord on July 11, 2023, at the tender age of 59. He was the second child of Bernice Wilson and Ollie Broughton, raised in
Brooklyn, New York along with his brother Carl. He attended the New Bedford- Stuyvesant Junior High School followed by Brooklyn Technical High School. The family relocated to Hollis,
Queens, New York, and Eric became a student at City College New York School of Engineering where he graduated with a master's degree in electrical engineering. He met and married the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Sis. Myrle Anderson in 1995 and they were blessed with their only son, Daniel, who he adored.
Young Brother Anderson was ambitious and acquired the coveted Engineer In Training Certification which prepared him for the Professional Engineering License. He was a brilliant Engineer, well-respected by his superiors, peers and co-workers. In November 1991 he was employed by New York City Transit Authority (MTA) in the Power Distribution Department where he conducted track inspections. It was not a surprise that Minister Anderson was promoted to Supervisor after years of dedicated service. He continued his elevation to various positions throughout his 32-years of employment with the MTA until the time of his passing.
Minister Anderson was very focused and extremely determined to achieve his goals. He was a gentle giant who worked quietly without fuss or fanfare. He was multi-talented and could build any equipment from scratch. We recalled that he was able to build two electric guitars for his son, he could dismantle and rebuild a computer, put together a comprehensive security system, he built and installed audio-visual systems for his home church and other ministries – designed and installed all the appropriate components. His patience in troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issues was unrelenting – he did not stop until the problem was solved. Would you believe that our brother built his own garden green room, with a hydroponic system, which allowed plants to grow without soil – a soilless, automatic-watering garden system – unbelievable!
If you had a chance to try any of Min. Anderson's food, your taste buds would soar past the stratosphere.
Cooking was yet another passion of his. His meals were all prepared from scratch – this included yogurt,
desserts, special meat dishes, delicious hot bread, and any meal his heart desired during holidays or any day of the week. He would purchase all the ingredients and come home to work his magic (everyone had to leave the kitchen) – hours later the family would have a feast. He pursued every activity with the same intense attention to detail and aesthetic excellence.
Minister Anderson was a dedicated member of the New York Deliverance Gospel Temple for over 30 years, under the leadership of Chief Apostle Dr. Ira Davidson, Sr. He remained steadfast in his membership even after relocating from
Queens, New York to New Jersey. Minister Anderson drove every Sunday for two hours one-way to attend services. He served as the Audio-Visual Technician and Sunday School Teacher for the ministry. His dedication to the ministry was unparalleled – he travelled from New Jersey to New York in Rain, Snow or Storm; He travelled when he was sick, he travelled when he was well, setting up and breaking down the audio-visual equipment every Sunday and conducting on-going maintenance – Min. Anderson was a faithful servant of the Lord to the end.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Sister Myrle Anderson; Son: Daniel Anderson; Brother: Carl Anderson; Sister: Andria Wilson; Niece: Ariana; Nephews: Imari and Jay, Friends, and Saints. He will be sorely missed, and his memory will live on forever in our hearts.
May his soul rest in peace!
