Eric Michael Chapman

Eric Michael Chapman, 61, of Harrisonburg, departed this life on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Pleasant View Homes in Broadway, Va. where he had resided since 1999. He was the son of the late John David, Jr. and Lucille Virginia Whetzel Chapman.

Eric was an active in Church Life and Special Olympics, competing in bowling, basketball, and softball. He competed in softball at the 1988 International Special Olympics, representing Virginia, Area 4. Through supported work programs, he worked at OP SHOP, McDonalds and for many years at Food Lion's Cloverleaf location.

He is survived by his siblings, Judith Paige Chapman Hajash (Steven) of Romney, West Virginia, Ray David Chapman (Carol Anne Morris) of New London, North Carolina, Ellen Virginia Chapman Owens (Timothy) of Forest, Virginia, and Roger Dale Chapman (Rebecca Poole) of Harrisonburg, Virginia; nine nieces and nephews, and eleven great-nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2026, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, with Pastor David Gullman officiating. Interment will be private at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
