I knew Eric at his sardonic prime in the late 70s, goatee, hair swept back, tinted glasses, a bit of Tom Waits in style. West Central was cheap in those day and I relish the time we had, seeing Eric at the Tiny Tim Diner or Ruby's Red Hot Records. He was my go to guy for new music: working at the gas station on the corner of Broadway and Jefferson in a Phillips 66 uniform, an Honest to God coin changer on his belt, telling me about Bob Fripp's new release called (dramatic pause, devilish grin) Exposure; listening to Catholic Boy and Remain in Light, then brand new and still remarkable, in his basement room in the Noll Mansion across from Swinney Park, then a picturesque rooming house. Stopping in unannounced at noon, Eric having no phone and late rising, lathering to shave, cigarette at hand, teasing me for admitting I still used an eclectic razor. Competing for the attention of a girl who roomed at Friends of the Third World and went to Art School when it was still downtown. And many other memories I am fortunate to have. RIP.

So sorry to hear of this. Prayers for peace to all. I will miss seeing Eric at the doctor's office. He had such a kind soul, may he rest in peace!
