He went to join the Heavenly Choir on August 5th, 2023.
Eric was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church, Hampton where he began his relationship with God at an early age. This relationship led him to lend his voice and musical talents to the church.
He graduated from Phoebus High School in 1979 where he was a valued member of the track and field and football teams. He attended Norfolk State University where he was encouraged to pursue writing. Later, he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Medical Service Specialist.
Eric was immensely creative and an immaculate speaker. His talents were displayed through his songwriting, singing, poetry, essays, storytelling and cooking. His compassion in conjunction with his military training made him an excellent caretaker for his mother and neighbors.
He is preceded by his father, Alburtos Horne Sr., mother, Ethel Clarke Horne, and brothers: Darryl Horne (Charlene), Albert Horne, and Alburtos Horne Jr. (Daphany)
He is survived by the love of his life, Andrea Horne, his children: Tiara (Demetrius) Hawthorne, Chandra (Joseph) Platt, Brandon (Whitney) Thompson, Erica (Abdel) Keita, Matthew Horne, and Isaac Horne, siblings: James (Carrie) Flagg, Rhonda (Frank) Reeves, Florence Gary, Michael (Olivia) Horne, Alicia Horne and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

I speak your name in honor of your commitment to your craft. I speak your name for all the times I hum your songs. I speak your name for "In the Midnight Hour," one on one with Jesus times affect us all at various and sundry times...He meets us at anytime, praying, singing, connecting with HIM! I speak your name with your version of "PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!"
How many veterans in our lineage alone...never have I gotten through it without a tear. Sister, Veteran, Last of the WAC. still missing you! Crying and laughing at the same time because I hear you say how corny I am when I tell a joke to make you laugh!

My dearest Eric,
If I know anything, oh and I know it all, lol! I know you are in an indescribable stairwell where the accoustics are everything, you are there amidst the angelic choir singing, praising, to the most high GOD...!
EVEN in knowing that, I think of you and "ugly cry" every now and then because I miss you! Losing you and Jr. days apart was mind numbing.
So I remember when we were little I made lasagna, you always led me to believe I was doing something in the kitchen!
Walk around heaven all day! Praising and Thanking HIM allday!!
