Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farkas Funeral Home on Oct. 1, 2025.
We come to you today with heavy hearts as we share the news of the passing of Eric Paul Larson, affectionately known to many as Lars, a cherished member of our community. Born on February 24, 1966, in
Joliet, Illinois, Eric's journey through life was one marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family and service. On December 17, 2024, in Minooka, Illinois, Eric concluded his chapter among us, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate through the lives he touched.
Eric's life was a testament to the strong bonds of family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years, Tracy Larson, and his pride and joy, his sons Brock and Blake. His mother, Charlene Larson; his sister and brother-in-law, Denise and John McKevitt; his brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Lynn Larson; and his brother and lifelong friend, Billy DelRose, also share in the loss of a man who was not only family by blood but by the deepest of connections. Eric's special bond with his baby girl, Greta Lynn, was a sight to behold, a testament to the bond of an animal and their family member.
Though he now joins his late father, Thomas Larson (Bud), and his loyal German Shepherds, Bailey Ann and Sasha, in eternal rest, Eric's spirit will forever be felt by those who had the privilege to know him.
Eric's life was one of service, not only to his family but to his community. A proud graduate of Lewis University, he took the knowledge he gained and embarked on a selfless career in law enforcement. For 30 years, he served the community of Will County with honor and distinction, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and those he protected.
Beyond his work, Eric was a man of many passions. He found joy and freedom riding his Harley, embracing the open road and the wind in his face. But perhaps his greatest passion was watching his two boys grow and excel as athletes, a reflection of the values and strength he instilled in them. Eric's mission in life was clear: to provide for his family, ensuring their well-being and paving the way for a successful and happy future.
Eric's legacy is also carried on through the multitude of relationships he cultivated throughout his life. His nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends were the bedrock of his existence. He saw in each of them the foundation of who he was and who he aspired to be, inspiring them to build lives of purpose and compassion.
As we say farewell to Eric Paul Larson, we acknowledge the void his departure leaves in our community. Yet, we also celebrate the man he was-a protector, a mentor, a friend, and above all, a family man. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved, in the community he served, and in the countless lives he enriched.
In his passing, we are reminded that life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. Eric's life was full of such moments, and his story, one of unwavering commitment to others, will continue to inspire us all. Though we mourn, we also find comfort in the knowledge that Eric's life was well-lived and that his legacy will endure through the many lives he touched.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Larson family and all who knew Eric. As we reflect on his life and contributions, let us hold tight to the memories and let his spirit guide us in our own lives. Eric Paul Larson, a beacon of love and service, may be gone from our sight, but he will never be gone from our hearts.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood on Friday January 3, 2025, at 11:00am.
