Eric Aaron Navis, 53, of Waupun, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 in Waupun.
Eric was born September 12, 1969 in Beaver Dam, the son of Arlyn Navis and Laraine “Pat” Navis. Eric was very proud of having served over 13 years in the Army. He was a tank commander and later became an Infantryman. Eric graduated with a bachelor's degree in History and Political Science from Western Illinois University. His passion for politics allowed him to become an alderman for the 3rd District in Waupun, run for Mayor of Waupun as well as the State Assembly. Eric also had a life-long passion for music. He was in numerous bands including Red Alert, 5 O'Clock Charlie, and The Rock River Band. Eric was married to Kathy DeVries on September 5, 1998 in Waupun. He also served on the worship band at Edgewood Community Church and in Oshkosh at Sunnyview Christian Church. He was also a life-time member of the Mason’s of Waupun, obtaining the 32 degree of the Scottish Rite.
Eric is survived by his daughter, Hanna (Antonio) Pipia of Beaver Dam; a step-daughter, Kayla (James) Schwindt of Oshkosh; three grandchildren: Thatcher, Evelyn, and Lucas; the love of his life, Kathy Navis; brothers: Troy (Judy Noack) Navis of Oshkosh, Josh (Connie) Navis of Waupun and Michael (Janell) Hanson of Sun Prairie; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arlyn Navis in 2008 and Laraine Navis in 2011; and an infant sister, Yvette Navis.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made in the name of Eric for a memorial fund.

Funeral services for Eric Navis will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun with Pastor Chet Cooper officiating. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
