Eric Wayne Settles, 42, passed away in the early morning hours of November 17, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida, under the care of The Mayo Clinic, with his wife by his side.
Eric was born October 1, 1982, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He spent his childhood living in Key West and Virginia before his family moved to Georgia, where he graduated from Effingham County High School and attended Georgia Southern University. He married his high school sweetheart, and they put their roots down in Rincon, Georgia where they raised two beautiful children that he absolutely cherished.
He was a 20-year employee with Gulfstream Aerospace, where he quickly advanced his knowledge and skills in aviation mechanics, moving up to a coordinator status. In his personal time, Eric found joy by working on cars (he loved Mustangs), playing video games, spending cherished time with his family, and hosting gatherings at their home to bring people together. He had a wonderful, welcoming soul. His smile would light up the room, and his laugh was contagious. Eric was always the person to count on for encouragement, a good laugh, or a helping hand. He is literally known to have given the shirt off his back for someone in need.
Surviving are his wife, Tracy Settles; daughter, Kaylan Settles; son, Dylan Settles; mother, Ingrid Settles; father, Wayne Settles (Lisa); grandparents, Donald and Lucy Fernandez; many aunts, uncle, cousins, and countless friends that he considered family.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday, November 22nd at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.
The family suggests remembrances be made in his memory by donating to his memorial GoFundMe, or the Gabriel House of Care in Jacksonville, Florida. The family also asks to please consider becoming an organ donor.
