Eric Thorpe Obituary
Eric Lee Thorpe, 51 years old of Brighton, Colorado passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 22nd, 2024 after a year and half long battle with Esophageal cancer. Eric was born and raised in Brighton, Colorado. His passion for drag racing started in high school. With his dad and Rich by his side teaching him everything they knew about building cars and engines, this became his lifelong career. Eric met his wife Katrina 1993 they were later married July 2nd, 1995. With the arrival of there first son Wyatt later that year and there second son Andrew was born four years later. Eric and his friend Andy started a new hobby of building and racing tough trucks. They traveled several states competing in the tough truck circuit, Andy racing and Eric wrenching they won championships at Rocky Mountain Speedways and 2 at international promotions.
Several years later Eric got back into building race cars and Drag racing himself, he had so many cars that we lost count! When his boys were old enough, he got them into racing junior dragsters, several years of fun, eventually building door cars and dragsters too. Passing his knowledge and addiction of racing to his son's. The "Thorpe Racing Team" was born, helping his family build their race cars along the way!
He is survived by his wife Katrina of 29 years, Son's Wyatt (Daelynn), Andrew (Brooke), Parents Don and Helen Thorpe, Sister Deb (Steve) Montgomery, Brother Rich (Sara) Nephews Camron and Tyler Thorpe. Numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Donald & Helen Thorpe, Gordon & WinonaHurley, In-laws Betty LaMonda and John Adler.
