Erica D. Schroeder

Erica Danielle Schroeder, age 38, passed away on May 18, 2020 after a courageous bout with late-stage ovarian cancer.She was born on August 6, 1981 in Summit, NJ to Paul (deceased 2018) and Wanda (nee Lorenc, deceased 2009) Schroeder of Washington, NJ. Surviving her is her older sister, Suzanne Schroeder.Erica, a graduate of Warren Hills Regional High School in Washington, NJ, and The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ, was a Health and Physical Education teacher at North Warren High School in Blairstown, NJ and, most recently, at Melvin H. Kreps Middle School in East Windsor, NJ. Between both schools, Erica enjoyed coaching her students in softball, basketball, and field hockey.Erica was the proud "aunt" to Tyler, Travis, Tayler, and Tanner McGuire of Hunterdon County, NJ, who she took great enjoyment in seeing grow up. Erica also enjoyed working part-time at Princeton BMW in Hamilton, NJ. Over the last year, Erica had taken an active interest in golf, acquiring her first set of clubs, which she proudly kept in her trunk. One of Erica's avid passions was cooking and baking, something she did happily in her spare time. You could often find Erica watching a show on The Food Network or a "how-to" video on YouTube. Erica conquered breast cancer twice before her third diagnosis with ovarian cancer in 2019, a battle she fought unrelentingly until the very end. Above all else, Erica was a strong and resilient young woman, and was fiercely, unrelentingly loyal to her family and friends.Since services had previously been delayed due to COVID-19, memorial services for Erica will now be held on Saturday, June 26 from 1PM-4PM at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, 2946 S Broad St, Trenton, NJ 08610.In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial gift, electronically or via check, to www.njrise.org (PO Box 88, Hightstown, NJ 08520), an organization with which Erica worked closely through Kreps to support the local students in the community.
