Ericka Keshon Wilson was born on September 9, 1992, at Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Lynn McGee and Eric Wilson Sr. Ericka departed this life on October 22, 2024, at the age of 32.
Ericka was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her. Raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Ericka was a proud graduate of Lincoln College Prep Academy, where she excelled as an honor roll student and was a member of the Junior Honor Society and Kauffman Scholars. She continued her education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), pursuing her dreams with passion and determination. Ericka was employed at Children’s Mercy Hospital. She had a lifelong career in the medical field as a medical registrar, working at Research Medical, Swope Parkway Health, and the VA hospital.
Ericka was known for her incredible spirit and warmth. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering support for her family and friends left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. She truly was “Ericka Miss America.” Ericka had a beautiful smile and energy that lit up a room. She loved her family and friends and had a special bond with all the children in the family. She was known to give them precious nicknames. Ericka had the remarkable ability to make those around her feel special and loved, and her legacy of positivity will be cherished by all who knew her.
Ericka is survived by her beloved mother, Lynn McGee; siblings, Eric Wilson Jr. and Kyerra Wilson; paternal grandparents, Hazel Buchanan and Hubert Buchanan; uncles, Petey McGee, Bennie Terrell III, Kerriem Wilson Sr, Yusef Wilson; aunts; Meena Wilson, Margaret Wilson, Leetha Jones, Special Aunt Connie; Uncle Kenny, and Uncle Ronald; Godbrother, Donta Baker, and Godmother, Sonia Hill. She cherished her role as an aunt to her adored niece, Eyri Wilson, who brought her immense joy, her little mini me. Ericka also leaves to cherish a host of other family and life-long friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; Eric Wilson Sr, maternal grandmother, Patricia McGee, her great-grandmother, Beatrice McGee, her maternal grandfather, Bennie Charles Terrell Jr, her cousins, Latefa Baker, Sharon Irby, and Omar “Chubby” Wilson, and her best friends, Raven, and Ariel. Ericka also leaves to cherish a host of other family and life-long friends.
In remembrance of Ericka’s life, we invite family and friends to gather and celebrate the joy she brought to our lives. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday November 9, 2024, visitation will be from 9 A.M. - 11 A.M. with services beginning at 11 A.M. at Sunlight Baptist Church 4444 Woodland Kansas City, Mo 64110
Interment: Forest Hill Cemetery
