Erik Matthew Weber, a cherished husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the age of 50. Born on September 29, 1974, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, Erik's vibrant spirit and infectious laughter left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Erik's life was marked by his unwavering love for his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Weber, his adored children, RheaAnn, Jacob, Benjamin, and Emilynn Weber, his devoted mother, Barbara Ann Weber, and his caring sister, Kristen (Michael) O'Hara. Erik's legacy of love also extends to his niece, Paige O'Hara; nephews, Nathaniel (Kyla) Irvine and Christiaan (Hanna) Irvine; great-nephew, Kiernan Irvine; and his loyal canine companion, Izzy. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Lawrence Weber, whose memory he held close to his heart.
Erik's passion for learning was evident from his childhood, where he would often be found engrossed in encyclopedias, absorbing knowledge on a wide array of subjects. His academic journey began at General Motors Institute and culminated in a degree from Penn State University. Erik's intelligence and work ethic led him to a fulfilling career as an engineer at Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated over 32 years of service. His love for Ford was only rivaled by his love for his fraternity, Theta Xi, where he forged lifelong friendships and memories.
A man of many interests, Erik had a profound love for cars, particularly his prized red Mustang convertible. He was also a music enthusiast, with a special talent for drumming, often found tapping to the rhythm of his favorite tunes. Erik's passion for Philadelphia sports was undeniable, as he was a devoted fan of the Phillies, the Eagles, and of course, his college team, Penn State. Known for being a talker, he had the unique ability to make friends wherever he went, spreading joy and laughter with his wicked sense of humor.
Erik's commitment to his children's lives was unwavering. He never missed an opportunity to support them in their extracurricular activities, whether it was dance or track. He was a proud "College Dad", always representing the colleges of his children, including Grand Valley, Michigan State, University of Michigan, and Eastern. His presence was a source of encouragement and pride for his family. A lover of the outdoors, Erik took great pleasure in maintaining his lawn with his electric mower, a testament to his dedication to both his home and the environment.
When not cheering on his favorite teams or spending time with his family, Erik could be found running the streets of his neighborhood, in search of the best local cheesesteak, or indulging in his favorite strawberry Blue Bunny ice cream. He loved his Yeungling Lager and would drive all the way to Ohio to get it. Erik also loved his visits to Wawa where he could get fuel for his car and body. He also had a deep appreciation for history, with a particular interest in World War 2, a subject he researched extensively.
Erik's compassionate spirit extended beyond his immediate circle; he was a two-time survivor of Lymphoma which fueled his passion and support of
The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society of Michigan, contributing his time and energy to the cause.
Described by those who knew him as loving, funny, and intelligent, Erik Weber's impact on the world was profound. His laughter, wisdom, and kindheartedness will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Erik's life was a testament to the power of love, the joy of laughter, and the pursuit of knowledge. He will be forever remembered as a beacon of light in the lives of his family and friends.
