With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Erna Aleen Pratt, who left this world on July 2, 2025. Born on May 25, 1938, in Ellington, Missouri, Erna spent her life nurturing and caring for others, most notably as a dedicated babysitter in the child care industry. Residing in Springfield, Missouri, she created a warm and loving home for her family.
Erna is survived by her beloved children: sons Clarence and Gregory Pratt and daughter Mary Pratt. Also surviving her are 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 nephews, and 2 nieces. She was proud of the life she built, filled with laughter and cherished memories, and her devotion to her family was at the heart of everything she did.
A true lover of old westerns and classic shows like The Andy Griffith Show, Erna had a unique ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her deep affection for cats filled her home with warmth and companionship. Additionally, she took great pride in having read the Bible in its entirety, demonstrating her steadfast faith and commitment to her beliefs-an accomplishment that was a testament to her character.
Erna was preceded in death by her parents Clarence Ray and Nettie Edith (Smith) Cowin, her siblings Louie, Cleston, James, Alsie, Millard and Lelia, as well as her son, Jeffrey Alexander Pratt.
Funeral services for Erna will be held on July 11, 2025, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. The day will commence with visitation at 9:00 AM, followed by a service at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Erna's life before her burial at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at following the service.
As we gather to honor Erna's memory, let us reflect on her generous spirit, unwavering love, and the joy she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her. Rest in peace, dear Erna.
