Ernest Gerard Auger

1943-2023
Putnam – Ernest (Ernie) Gerard Auger, 79, of Bibeault Street, died Monday, May 1, 2023, at home.
He was born in Putnam, son of the late Paul and Marie Ange (Beausoleil) Auger. Ernie grew up in Putnam and was a graduate of Putnam High School and was a Veteran of the United States Army National Guard. Ernie worked in bakeries, on the railroad, at various mills in the area and at well drilling companies before going out on his own and founding Ernie's Pump Service and Water Treatment, Inc., which his family still owns and operates today.
Ernie loved life to the fullest. He loved to travel, golf, fish, and spend time at the casinos. He had friends near and far and always looked forward to his annual trips to Alaska and Aruba. He loved to go on cruises.
He is survived by his son, Robert "Bob" Auger of Alaska; his granddaughters, Kayla Auger of Putnam and Kristen Auger of Danielson; his former wife, Gayle Auger of Putnam; He was predeceased by his daughter, Michelle Auger Cruz of Putnam. Ernie is also survived by his siblings, Paul Auger of Florida, Ronald Auger of Florida, George Auger of Georgia, Jeannine Fournier of Woodstock, Leon Auger of South Carolina, Thomas Auger of Putnam, Cecile Lee of Woodstock, close friends, Peter DeArmond of Putnam and Richard Blake of Woodstock; numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ernie's family from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Gilman Funeral Home and Crematory, 104 Church Street, Putnam.
