It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest (Ernie) Romeo Famiglietti on Saturday, May 10th, 2025 at his home in Naples, Florida. He was the devoted husband of Karen Luszcz, with whom he shared 38 years.
Ernie was also the loving father of Melissa Famiglietti Snape of Hingham, MA, and an incredibly proud "Grandpa" to Andrew Ernest Snape and Lily Adeline Snape, also of Hingham, MA.
Born on August 1, 1936 in
Providence, RI, Ernie was the son of the late Ernest and Adeline Famiglietti. He spent much of his youth at the Wanskuck Boys Club, where he honed his basketball and baseball skills, and was a graduate of Lasalle Academy. He received his college degree from Bryant University.
Ernie went on to earn his CFA and had a long and successful career as a financial advisor. His professional legacy includes founding and running the New England Trust Company in 1971 in
Providence, Rhode Island, where he made a significant contribution to the wealth management industry and acted as a trusted advisor to individuals, families and businesses throughout New England before it was sold to First of America in 1994. A successful entrepreneur himself, Ernie also quietly worked behind the scenes, helping many others to start businesses over the years by providing seed capital and long term mentorship, many of whom became lifelong friends.
He was an ardent fan of New England sports. As a season ticket holder, he could often be found cheering on the Providence Friars basketball team or the New England Patriots supporting his teams through thick, thin and at times, very thin! He cherished his time at the ball field, whether he was watching his grandchildren play, or playing himself in the Marco Island Senior Softball League where over the years his teams won many championships, the friendships ran deep and he will be forever known to his family and friends as "Ace On First Base".
A bigger than life personality, Ernie was the most loyal of friends and a fierce protector of his family, who would do anything for the people lucky enough to be loved by him. He cherished time with his wife, family and friends on his boat in Lake Winnipesaukee, NH, the beaches of Naples, FL and Narragansett, RI and on many cruises and trips to Italy.
In addition to his wife, daughter, and grandchildren, Ernie leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Elissa and Peter Pogorski of Boston, MA, and countless other cousins, family and friends that will deeply miss him. He was also the brother of the late Robert Famiglietti. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his life of love, dedication, and accomplishment.
The family wishes to thank his dear caregivers, Anne Nieva-Orr, Shane Medaya and Shakira Minor and the many other friends and Florida family who helped his wife Karen in so many ways as she lovingly and tirelessly cared for him at home during his years long struggle with dementia. We will be forever grateful to you for all you have done.
