Ernest Glenn Grimes

1937-2025

Ernest Grimes, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

He was born on July 25, 1937 to Floyd and Florence Grimes in Dekalb, Missouri.

A person of unshakable faith, Ernest was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was a pipeline welder before retiring from General Motors and being a landlord.

He enjoyed tending to his yard, family gatherings, and maintaining his rental properties.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife Mary, his children Julie Cogdill and Amy Wheeler (Charles); his grandson Seth Wheeler, his brother Everett Grimes (Debbie), and numerous nieces and nephews as well as extended family members and friends who will fondly remember Ernest's unwavering support and guidance.

As we remember Ernest Grimes, let us smile at the thought of his kind heart and dedication to his family and friends.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Friday, September 26, 2025 at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. Family suggests memorial contributions to Second Harvest, American Heart Association and Friends of the Animal Shelter in St. Joseph. Online guest book and obituary at www.meierhoffer.com.
