Ernest Paul "Ernie" Hansen

Hansen – Ernest "Ernie" Paul Hansen, age 90, of Bryceville, Florida passed away peacefully at his home on January 28, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Ernie was born in Hartington, Nebraska on July 16, 1934, to the late William C. Hansen and Della B. Breisch Hansen. He was raised in Nebraska and graduated from Obert High School in 1954. Ernie was a true patriot and loved being an American. In November of 1956, Ernie joined the United States Army where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1962. Following his time in the military, Ernie had a long successful career as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Forestry Division with the Department of Agriculture dedicating many years of hard work before his retirement in 2013. Ernie lived life to the fullest and enjoyed the simple treasures of life. He loved being outdoors tending to his farm, watching classic westerns, and finding unique keepsakes at thrift stores. Ernie also enjoyed attending Brandy Branch Baptist Church and worshipping his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with his church family. Above all, Ernie was a devoted family man. He cherished time with his loved ones and especially loved dining out with his wife and creating everlasting memories with his grandchildren. Ernie was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 48 years, Betty Jo Sergent Hansen; son, Wayne Hendrix; daughter, Vera Luke; grandsons, Jeremy Luke and Skip Nipper; and brother, Gene Hansen.
Ernie is survived by his loving children, Joyce (James) Morgan of Jacksonville, FL, Nancy (Jesse) Nipper of Glen St. Mary, FL, Philip (Belinda) Hendrix of Bryceville, FL, and Vickie (David) Fuller of Baldwin, FL; brother, Wes Hansen of Michigan; 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Ernie's Life will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Baldwin Assembly of God with Reverend Paul Hale officiating. Pallbearers-Jimmy Rehberg, Joey Rehberg, Dean Holland, Michael Holland, Jacob Fuller, Philip Fuller and Shane Bryan. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the church.
