Reflection of Life
Ernest Lee Hubbard Jr., also known as "Hubbard” and affectionately known as "Smokey," was a devoted, God-fearing man. He accepted Christ at a young age and passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 23, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to the parentage of Helen and Ernest L. Hubbard Sr. Hubbard lived a life defined by faith, family, and service. Educated in the Dallas Independent School District, Ernest attended South Oak Cliff High School, where he proudly graduated with the Class of 1974. He went on to dedicate over 30 years of his career to the City of Dallas Water Department and Dallas County, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community.
Ernest was blessed with three beloved children: Gwenique Miller, Kejuana Hubbard, and Ratasha Alexander Hubbard, as well as two adored grandchildren, Aldric “Tank” Thompson Jr. and Adrimah “Toodie” Thompson, who brought endless joy to his life.
Hubbard truly lived life to the fullest, finding happiness in simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cheering for his favorite sports teams, and listening to classic oldies. Known for his love of shopping and his keen sense of style, Smokey had a gift for making others smile. He was deeply committed to giving back to his community and mentoring others, always finding ways to uplift and inspire those around him.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Georgia & M.S. Edmond and Mr. & Mrs. Henry Hubbard, and his parents Mr. & Mrs. Ernest L. Hubbard, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: 3 loving daughters, Gwenique Miller (Courtney), Kejuana Hubbard (Jerica), and Ratasha Alexander Hubbard; two grandchildren, Aldric Thompson Jr., and Adrimah Thompson. 3 sisters he adored: Louise Watson of Arkansas, Elaine Hubbard, Sheila Singleton, and 1 brother: Anthony Hubbard of Dallas, Texas; and many loving family members and friends.
