Ernest Bernard Kellogg 08/17/1954-08/29/2025
Ernest Bernard Kellogg, age 71 passed away on August 29, 2025 in La Veta, CO. Unfortunately, Ernie lost his battle to esophageal cancer. Ernie was surrounded by family when he passed.
Ernie was born in Pennsylvania on August 17, 1954. He moved to Colorado with his family as a young kid and grew up in Evergreen, CO. At a young age, Ernie met his future wife, Wanda. They were married in 1977 and later decided to spend their life and raise a family in La Veta, Colorado.
Ernie's passion was truck driving. It was a way to provide for his family and he was one heck of a truck driver. Ernie was never afraid to get behind the wheel of a truck. He drove for many years primarily hauling livestock. Ernie took a break from truck driving and started Ernie's Custom Concrete. After all that hard work his back needed a break and back to the truck he went. Ernie made the hard decision to retire from truck driving in the summer of 2025.
In his spare time, Ernie loved to fish, hunt, and camp. In his later years he enjoyed sitting under his covered porch with Wanda. They enjoyed many conversations and simply enjoying the beautiful view of the mountains.
Ernie is survived by his, son Wade (Katie) Kellogg, daughter Laura (Justin) Jameson, grandchildren Collin, Anna, and Charley, sister-in-law Debbie (Ron) McCuiston, and niece Cailey (Jonathan) Linenberger. Ernie has received his biggest wish over the last few months; to pass away at home with his family and unite with his wife Wanda for eternity.
There will be a celebration of life for Ernie on October 18th at the Huerfano County Fair Barn from 12:00pm-2:00pm, with lunch being provided.
