Ernest Gene Massingill

Ernest Eugene "Gene" Massingill, 87, passed away on February 23, 2025, in Durant, Oklahoma. He was born on April 1, 1937, in Hamilton, Texas, to Virgil Massingill and Lola Marie Wagoner.
He married his wife, Shirley Massingill on December 31, 1955 in Hamilton, Texas. He built a fulfilling career and retired as a State Farm agent in Idabel, Oklahoma.
Ernest enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; a son Michael Eugene Massingill; brother, Larry Don Massingill; and sister-in-law, Barbara Massingill.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Massingill; his children, Tamera and Tony Smallwood; Mark and Gayla Massingill and; his sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Gene Cates; his grandchildren, Natalie and Nick Melton, Brandon Fields, Shea and Khelby Jones, Chelsea Massingill and Jonathan Gallagher, Danielle and Clint England, Mika and Parker Sain, Matthew Massingill; Candi and Brian Farley and Cody Vance. He also leaves behind many cherished great-grandchildren.

A memorial visitation will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at The Gordon Center, 305 N 2nd Ave. Durant, Oklahoma. A meal will be provided.
