Ernest Shipley

Ernest Avery Shipley, age 73, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025. He was born on October 18, 1952, in Chattanooga, where he spent much of his life and built lasting connections.

Ernest was of the Baptist faith and was known for his strong work ethic, having worked many years as a mechanic. He had a lifelong love for fishing and motorcycles and was a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. Ernest also cherished the companionship of his beloved dog, "Girl Girl," who held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sue Joy Shipley and Ernest Shipley; his brothers, John Shipley and Dan Shipley; sister, Ruth Smith; and his niece, Tracy Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory include his nieces, Wendy Smith and Randi Smith (Benny Laymon); his great-nieces, Summer Smith and Prim Laymon; and his great-nephews, Elijah Kimble, Avery Bidwell, and Damien Laymon.

Services will be private.

All arrangements are entrusted to Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, South Crest Chapel, Rossville, Georgia.
