Ernest Wesley Stanfill

Mr. Ernest Wesley Stanfill, age 88, husband of Shirley Ann Fitzgerald Stanfill, and a resident of Bear Creek Pike in Columbia, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Hardison Cemetery. A visitation will also be held on Thursday from 12:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on October 19, 1934, in Maury County, Ernest was the son of the late Harlan Stanfill and the late Minnie Hill Stanfill. He married Shirley Ann Fitzgerald on July 25, 1954. He previously worked cutting trees to make hammer handles in Pulaski and later became an over the road truck driver for McCann Steel Co. where he worked for many years before retiring in 1999. After retirement, he hauled firewood for Cracker Barrel. He and his wife attended Destiny Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, William "Billy" (fiancé, Misty Sullivan) Stanfill of Columbia, daughter, Deborah Stanfill (James) Reeves of Chapel Hill, brother, Harlan (Joyce) Stanfill, Jr., sisters, Rachel Potts, Marie (Zelbert) Potts, grandchildren, Christy (Adam) Stapleton, Kelly (Joey) Gillespie, Kassey James, Tara Stanfill, Darrell (Holly) Hinton, Tres´ (Dana) Reeves, Robbie Love, and Brandy (James) Phelps, twenty great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donald Wesley Stanfill, daughter, Patricia Lynn Hinton, grandson, Donald Wesley Stanfill, Jr., and sisters, Mabel Poteet, Clara Peach, Edna Cobb, and Lula Potts.
Pallbearers will be Trevor Phelps, John Wesley Harris, Walker Harris, Tres´ Reeves, Darrell Hinton, and James Phelps. Honorary pallbearers will include the nurses and staff of Hospice Compassus of Columbia.
