Ernest Lee Vaughn, 86, husband of Stella Vaughn, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at his home in Versailles, Kentucky. Born July 1, 1938 in Clay County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Theodore and Lucy Hicks Vaughn. Ernest spent his career working on horse farms, particularly Airdrie farm in Midway Kentucky and was self-employed working as an electrician and plumber. Ernest enjoyed spending time outdoors working in his garden and enjoyed fishing. Ernest valued his family time and was adored by his wife Stella, 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Ernest will be forever loved and remembered by his devoted wife of 55 years, Stella Vaughn, Versailles, children; Ernest Lee Vaughn Jr. of Sharpsburg Kentucky, Matt Vaughn of Versailles Kentucky and Melanie (Dale) Vickers of Versailles Kentucky. Ernest is also survived by his 8 grandchildren: Jessie, Michele, Theodore, Destiny, Wyatt, Paige, Preslee and Olivia, 9 great-grandchildren, Brothers, J.C. (Lisa) of Paris, Ronnie, Glenn and Bennie of Manchester Kentucky, Sisters, Mary, Rosetta and Linda of Manchester. In addition to his parents, Ernest was also preceded in death by his brothers, Earl, Gill, Theodore Jr, and Carl.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, James Phelps officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow the service at Rose Crest Cemetery where pallbearers will be Matt Vaughn, Terry Cosby, Dale Vickers, Tim Engle and Eric Adams. Friends and family are encouraged to leave messages of condolence and share memories here on Ernest's tribute wall.
