Ernest Condit Yates, a devoted father and quiet cornerstone of his family, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, in Randolph, New Jersey. He was 87 years old.
Born in Orange, New Jersey, on August 23, 1937, Ernest graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood in 1955 and the Newark College of Engineering in 1965. He went on to build a long and steady career as a mechanical engineer with Becton Dickinson and Goody Products Inc., where he retired with pride and distinction.
A man of few words but great depth, Ernest was the voice of reason-calm, cool, and collected in every situation. He was loyal, generous, and dependable, the kind of person who took care of everyone without hesitation. His quiet devotion was felt deeply by all who knew him.
He had a love for golf, the New York Giants and Rangers, neighborhood poker games, ping pong battles, and long summer days spent on Long Beach Island with his family. These were the moments that brought him joy and connection.
Above all, Ernest was the rock of his family-the one who quietly held everything together. He was a father of three and a man whose presence brought steadiness, warmth, and unwavering love. He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys; daughter Carolyn and her husband Michael; daughter Katherine and her husband Alex; son Henry and his wife Desiree; and six grandchildren: Julia, Cristina, Carly, Miranda, Cassandra, and Ernie. He is also survived by his two sisters, Joyce and Dorothy.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, between 3:30-7:30PM located at Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph.
A Graveside Service will be held at10:45AM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, located at Restland Memorial Park, 77 Deforest Ave, East Hanover, NJ 07936. Interment will follow.
