Ernest Ziobrowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Glenville Funeral Home - Glenville on Dec. 19, 2025.
Ernest Carl Ziobrowski Jr., 87, passed away on December 17, 2025. Born on January 6, 1938, in Schenectady, New York, to his late parents, Ernest Carl and Genevieve (Tooley) Ziobrowski Sr.
After graduating from Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons High School, he proudly served his country overseas in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963.
In 1960, he married his beautiful wife, the former, Diane Mitchell. Returning from service, Ernie embarked on his greatest adventure as a father, raising his children in Burnt Hills Ballston Lake CSD.
He dedicated 28 years to General Electric's Turbine Division, where he worked as a foreman. At the young age of 55, Ernie retired, embracing a well-deserved and fulfilling retirement.
Ernie was an antique shopper and car show enthusiast, often taking his family along for the ride. He also had a profound appreciation for history, which he shared with his family through visits to historical sites and presidential residences. His passion for travel was undeniable, with Ernie and his wife Diane exploring the Alaskan Highway, visiting 46 states, and delighting in four Windjammer Cruises. They cherished their 20 winters in Florida, the 1988 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, and when they were in the northeast, they would go on weekend trips to Vermont.
His role as a proud grandpa was complemented by his eagerness to pass on his passions, especially history through automobiles and trains. His family also made countless treasured memories at their camp on Sacandaga Lake, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also an active member at the Glenville Senior Center and American Legion.
Predeceased by his parents, his brother William, and his loving wife, Diane, Ernie leaves behind a legacy of warmth and integrity. His children, Shelly Sterlina and James Ziobrowski, along with his grandson, Matthew (May) Sterlina, are a testament to his profound influence and enduring spirit.
Calling hours will be held at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, on Tuesday, December 23rd, from 10 AM to 12 PM. Funeral Service will begin at 12 PM, followed by military honors and burial at Saratoga National Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Scotia-Glenville Senior Citizens, Inc., 32 Worden Road, Glenville, NY 12302.
