Ernestine E. Enloe, 82 of Spanish Lake, MO formerly of Sullivan and Salem, MO passed away Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis, MO.
Ernestine Edna was born on July 12, 1942, in Timber, MO to the late Alva Doss and Lillie Irene (Piatt) Enloe. She grew up and attended school in Salem, MO. She was baptized as a young lady in Temple Baptist Church and later attended New Testament Baptist Church. Ernestine was blessed with a beautiful daughter Elsie Irene, who was always the light of her mother's life. When Elsie fell ill with cancer, Ernestine lovely care for her beloved daughter until her passing. Elsie, Ernie and their best friend Jo Ann loved to shop and enjoyed many lunches together. Jo Ann and Ernestine spoke on the telephone daily and it was Jo Ann who was by her side until the end. Ernie was a loving person, a friend to many. She lived through many storms in her life but always remained strong and steadfast for those she loved. Ernestine will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ernestine earned a bachelor's degree and was employed for over twenty years as a youth facility manager for the State of Missouri where she conducted group counseling. She retired in 2006. For the past twenty-five years Ernie made her home in Spanish Lakes, which was very close to her bestie Jo Ann.
Ernestine is survived by her best friend Jo Ann West and husband Frank of St. Louis, MO; Jo Ann's children, Jenitta Ahmed, Cheina Thorpe and husband Emanuel, Jan Walker and husband Walter all of St. Louis, MO; Jo Ann's grandchildren, Lacheina Dickson, Laquinta Dickson, Laniecey and Jacob Hubbard, Jalen and Marianne Walker, Jade Walker and Jordan and Jream Walker; one brother Alvie Enloe and wife Betty of Sullivan, MO; many nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Elsie Hoerath; her parents, Alva and Lillie Enloe; sister Jewel Holland; three nephews Frank Enloe, Daniel Holland, Alva Holland; and one niece Debbie Holland.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM, Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Dave Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Lone Pine Piatt Cemetery, Salem, MO.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
