Erwin Richter Obituary
January 29, 1934 - January 2, 2026
Erwin W. "Rick" Richter, 91, of Cedar Falls, passed away peacefully at Nation Cottage. He was born in Ironwood, Mich., son of Erwin and Myrtle (Richards) Richter. Rick shared his passion for chemistry as a teacher in Michigan, then a professor at the University of Northern Iowa.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Pam; his daughters, Kris Clowers (Greg) and Heidi Noonan Day (Jeff); his son, Monte Meyer (Dyan); grandchildren, Mason Meyer (Hailey), Holden Meyer, Elyse Meyer, Kaili Meyer, Kayla Baker, Lauren Baker, and Luke Meyer; his brother, Ray Richter; and his many nieces and nephews. Rick is preceded in death by his mother; father; and brothers, Don and Tom.
Rick's family will honor him with a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. on Fri., April 17, 2026, with Visitation one hour prior, at St. John Lutheran Church of Cedar Falls. I had Dr. Richter for my chemistry professor at UNI. He was great. He would make the lessons practical and relate how we would use it in a job. In my Chem II class at the end of the semester we surprised him thinking he was being evaluated but gave him a gift from the class instead because of him being a great teacher. My condolences to the family.

I was very fortunate to have had Professor Richter as my chemistry professor when I attended UNI. He was an extremely intelligent person and and extremely nice person. He was in a class by himself. He's now at rest in God's loving arms.
