Estella Valadez, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and better known as "Mama," graduated from her earthly experience, with honors, on April 18, 2022. She passed peacefully and still quite beautiful at the young age of 86 in her home in Ogden Utah.
Mama was born in Guatemala on October 16, 1935. She married Manuel Lisandro Marroquin in 1949. He died in 1971. In 1997 she married and was sealed to Moses Valadez in the Oakland LDS temple. They later divorced but remained close friends over the years.
She moved to the Chicago in 1968 for an opportunity to create a better life for her and her children. Mama was the loveliest lunch lady (wearing pearls to work) for the majority of her working years. She always worked her magic in the kitchen, in secret, altering "the bland recipes" creating tastier versions everyone raved about. She was always up for adventure, from kayaking with family at 70 to exploring India at 84. She also enjoyed hiking and exercising through her 80s. All knew her as classy and fashionable.
Mama is survived by her children, Griselda Marroquin, Mirian Diaz, Yolanda Lewis (Dave Lewis) and Liliana along with 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. In her earlier years, she lost 3 children, Maria del Carmen Marroquin, Elsa Marroquin, and Rolando Marroquin, who we like to believe welcomed her to her new estate, where the grass is truly greener on the other side.
A celebration of life will be held on April 30th at 12:00 pm at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. in Ogden Utah. This Celebration will be live streamed and can be watched on her obituary page located at www.myers-mortuary.com where it will remain indefinitely. To watch scroll to the bottom of the obituary page.
