Estefanía Teresa Moinette Velázquez was a dear and beloved wife, mother, sister, abuela, aunt, and friend, who passed away suddenly and peacefully on Saturday June 3rd, 2023 surrounded by family and friends.
Teresa was born in Salamanca, Spain, on March 3, 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. She was the oldest daughter to a loving family and took care of her three siblings.
In the 1950s her family moved to Madrid, Spain where she finished school, and became a typist for the Spanish Foreign Relations Ministry. While out with her friends Teresa met David Moinette, the man who would be the love of her life. They married on June 1, 1963 in San Lorenzo Parish Church in Lavapiés Madrid.
She embarked on many adventures around the world with her husband and two children David and Maria-Teresa. They lived in Spain, Panama, Colorado, Maryland, Oklahoma, and Florida. She was a devoted Catholic who was active in the church throughout her life.
During her 25 years in Oklahoma City she established a lasting relationship with other Spanish ladies (the Spanish Mafia). They enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and singing to Spanish music.
Teresa was an avid reader who spent her days swimming and keeping in touch with her family and friends. She was known for having a beautiful home and a family that she loved. During the last 21 years Teresa and David enjoyed living in Venice, Florida where she made many friends and loved to watch the sunset over the Gulf
She is survived by her husband David L. Moinette, her daughter Maria-Teresa and her wife Leslie Wasson, as well as her son David and his wife Kimberly and their children Lily, Matthew, and Thomas. Teresa will be missed by her brother Aurelio Velázquez and sisters Eloisa Heinbaugh, and Aurelia Velázquez as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Teresa was laid to rest at the Lady of Sorrows Mausoleum in Resurrection Cemetery on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 1:00.
