Esther King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Naville & Seabrook Funeral Home - Oak Street Chapel on Mar. 8, 2026.
Esther O. (Belviy) King, 95, a lifelong resident of New Albany passed away early Saturday morning at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Albany to the late Oscar and Esther (Richard) Belviy. Esther was a devoted homemaker and loved to spend time with her family as much as possible. She loved the Lord and church; she used to enjoy singing in the choir and loved the old hymns throughout her life. Baking was her special gift, she loved to share her creations with everyone and was known to send pies to her neighbors. Esther was an avid fan of Jeopardy! She loved shopping, especially at the flea market stores where she could browse through the collectibles and vintage items that would bring her joyful memories of the past. Playing cards, especially rummy, was her passion and she would play with family and friends whenever possible.

She is survived by her children, Donna Carter (Tim), Robert King (Melinda), Donald King (his fiancé Debbie Popplewell) , Mindy Hardin (Kevin), Pam Boone (Richard), Patricia Seay (Adam) and Michael King (Melissa); she was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews will continue to cherish her memory.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband Donald C. King in 1994, her parents, sister Betty Wismann, her grandson and great-grandson.

Visitation will be from 2 – 8 PM Thursday, March 12th, 2026, and after 10 AM Friday at the Oak Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes (1846 E. Oak St. New Albany, IN).

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Friday in the Oak Street Chapel with burial to follow at Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
