Ethel Lockhart Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kelsey Funeral Home - Albemarle on Feb. 16, 2023.
Ethel Marie Horton Lockhart departed this life Saturday, February 11, 2023. Ethel, the fourth child born to Willie Lee Sr., and Anna Thomas Horton was born July 31, 1952, in Mount Gilead, North Carolina. Gone from our home, but not from our hearts, Ethel will be remembered for her kindness and sweet spirit.
She attended the Stanly County public schools and graduated in the class of 1970 from Albemarle Senior High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. She furthered her education at Cabarrus Community College, Kannapolis, North Carolina where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree. Ethel was employed with Charlotte Memorial Hospital and Hawthorne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Charlotte, North Carolina where she was nursing supervisor. She was also employed as a private duty nurse with Baylor Private Nursing, Salisbury, North Carolina prior to her retirement.
A woman of faith, Ethel was a member of God's Holy Tabernacle Church, Kannapolis. There she served faithfully under the ministry of Pastor Nancy Holland.
Left to honor her memory are her four brothers: Robert Joe Horton, who was her caregiver, Willie Horton Jr., John Wayne Horton, and Stopper Ray Horton all of Albemarle; two sisters: Pastor Nancy Holland Kannapolis and Mary Lee Pemberton, Albemarle; a host of nieces and nephews.
"Good night, dearest Ethel, may flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest".
