Ethel M. Steder, 103, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Dixon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. She was employed 20 years at Beier Bakery and also worked at Purity Mills and Franklin Grove Nursing Home before retiring in 1980.

Ethel was born on June 25, 1922, in South Dixon Twp., the daughter of Roy and Mildred "Millie" (Fisher) Helfrich. She married Howard C. Zentz in 1941 and in 1943 he was killed in the South Pacific theater of war during WWII. In 1960 she married Herbert R. Steder. He preceded her in death in 2019. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon.

Ethel is survived by her two step-sons, Larry (Sandra) Steder, Steve (Linda) Steder, and many grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; second husband; step-son, Dennis Steder; and 10 siblings.

A Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with Rev. Riley Reed-Windau, officiating. Burial will be to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dixon.

Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
